An estate winery on farmland the Waltz family has worked for six generations β tobacco fields turned vineyard after Jan Waltz planted his first vines in 1997. They're best known for doing what most Pennsylvania wineries can't: real dry reds, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that actually ripen on a consistent basis. Tastings come as a rack of test tubes you pour yourself, cheese plate optional. Saturdays bring Music on the Lawn at the Manheim estate, 1 to 4, and their Lampeter Corner outpost runs live music Fridays if you can't make the drive. Book ahead β the estate tasting room runs on reservations.
