Lancaster County's oldest continuously operated tavern, pouring since 1814 β back when a retired riverboat captain built it a stone's throw from the Susquehanna. The Shank family has run it since 1930, and third-gen Bob still works the bar β tapping beers, running food, even washing dishes when it comes to that. Come for the beer β eight rotating craft taps plus a year-round German Hefeweizen β and stay for a menu that swerves from Beef on 'Weck on Thursdays to pho on Tuesdays to hand-rolled sushi on Fridays. Tuesday's acoustic open mic and Thursday's electric jam keep the place loud, and there's a patio when it's not. Closed Saturday nights, because Bob likes to go out and drink beer too.
