A 300-acre family estate out in Bainbridge where J. Richard Nissley planted his first vines in the mid-'70s, and three generations of Nissleys still run the place β grandson Jonas came aboard full-time in 2016. The winery itself is a converted stone-arch tobacco barn, and Judith Nissley dreamed up the thing this place is famous for: Music in the Vineyards, live bands out among the vines. Saturday nights all summer, 5:30 to 9:30, and it's strictly 21 and up β pick a spot on the lawn and settle in. There's a wine bar, a beer tent, a slushy bar, and food trucks, so show up thirsty. Parking's free, and the wine slushy is the correct July call.
