Old Time Jam at West Art

featuring
west-art
816 Buchanan Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603
West Art took over the former St. Peter's United Church of Christ on Buchanan Ave in 2023, when West End neighbors Josh Gibbel and Rufus Deakin turned 15,000 square feet of church into an art bar and music hall. Touring acts roll through its two stages — David Ramirez and Low Cut Connie's Adam Weiner have both played here, some shows co-presented with WXPN. Between concerts it runs Drink & Draw, mahjong and chess nights, and SPiLL, the monthly LGBTQ+ social. The coffee bar pours Nostalgica, roasted a few blocks away on Grant Street. Catch a show in the Sanctuary if you can — stained glass over a stage is a hard combo to beat.

Every Tuesday, West Art's coffee bar turns into a genuine old-time community jam, led by Danny Mulligan. Bring an acoustic instrument and pull up a chair, or just come listen — no drums or amps, just the kind of unplugged, everybody's-welcome picking session that a repurposed church basement-turned-art-bar was practically built for. There's a full menu of coffee, tea, beer, wine, and cocktails to sip while the tunes roll, and it's free to walk in. West Art's whole thing is blending art, music, and community under one roof (the Sanctuary hosts the bigger touring shows), and this is the low-key, all-are-welcome end of that spectrum. Grab a seat at the bar, tune up, and settle in for a good old time.
