Jerry Lee Watkins at Proof

Lower Level, 30 N Queen St, Lancaster, PA 17603
A speakeasy-style cocktail bar sitting under 30 North Queen, and the only tell is a small Proof sign over a metal staircase heading below the sidewalk. Down there it's rustic stone walls against sleek modern furniture — a basement that drinks way above its station. The cocktails take swings and land them: the South Frog runs gin with tomato, basil, parmesan vermouth, and pepper oil. LNP's bar writers said the food alone is worth the trip even if you're not drinking cocktails, which is about the highest compliment a bar kitchen gets. Walk slow on Queen Street or you'll blow right past the sign.

Jerry Lee Watkins is back on the stand at Proof tonight, 6 to 9 PM, for another round of live guitar and vocals in Lancaster's best-hidden bar. Proof sits below street level under 30 N Queen — walk slow past the metal staircase near Central Market or you'll blow right past the sign. Inside, it's a former bank vault turned lounge: stone walls, a brick archway, a semi-private nook, and a drink program running past 500 bottles deep, from everyday pours to a 25-year Dalmore for the truly committed. Pair the set with a charcuterie board or a plate of oysters, or go straight for a cocktail — the South Frog's gin-tomato-basil build has already earned its reputation. Grab a seat, let Watkins set the pace, and stay as long as the pour list keeps tempting you. No cover.
