Drink & Draw at West Art

featuring

816 Buchanan Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603
West Art took over the former St. Peter's United Church of Christ on Buchanan Ave in 2023, when West End neighbors Josh Gibbel and Rufus Deakin turned 15,000 square feet of church into an art bar and music hall. Touring acts roll through its two stages — David Ramirez and Low Cut Connie's Adam Weiner have both played here, some shows co-presented with WXPN. Between concerts it runs Drink & Draw, mahjong and chess nights, and SPiLL, the monthly LGBTQ+ social. The coffee bar pours Nostalgica, roasted a few blocks away on Grant Street. Catch a show in the Sanctuary if you can — stained glass over a stage is a hard combo to beat.

Thursday nights, West Art's Art Bar turns into a low-stakes life-drawing hang — Drink & Draw, a casual, come-as-you-are sketch session with a full bar close enough to refill without losing your seat. No pressure, no critique circle, just a couple hours to doodle with a cocktail (or a coffee) in hand, in a room that used to be a church sanctuary and now does concerts, markets, and nights exactly like this one. Bring your own sketchbook or borrow supplies if you need them, post up at the bar, and see what comes out after a glass of wine. Free to join.
